Thursday 21 June 07
6:00pm - 9:00pm
Come meet the artist's and Check out the art

ART AS REMEDY
Gallery Opening for Skip Sams and David Nolan. While both artists use different disciplines, the end result is much the same in that they both use art as therapy.Skip will be showing his 2 dimensional oil pastels and acrylics and David will be showing his 3 dimensional assemblages

Skip is a painting and drawing artist. He uses oil pastels and acrylics. If you will I am going to send you his artist statement and you may wish to glean what you want to from it.

Many will remember David Nolan's work from Verde Gallery's In Human Form. He creates assemblages, on the almost spiritual somewhat disturbing side, guaranteed moving photographs in clear boxes, shrine like enclosures and antique or daguerreotype frames to mention a few. We visited David's home to get a sneak peek and pick out some works, while there we got a promise of some new works for the show as well

reception begins at 6:00pm and wraps up at 9:00pm June 21, 2007 at WIND WATER & LIGHT 10 Main St
Champaign
Regular hours 11am - 8pm Tuesday - Saturday Sunday 10am - 2pm and Monday by chance
Show continues from mid June through mid July

This is the second year that WIND WATER & LIGHT has been nominated for the Top Retailer of the Year Award. This is a national award, and we are competing against galleries all across the country. We are very pleased to have this honor, not only for ourselves but we feel it is a feather in the cap for Downtown Champaign and our artists. We would like to keep you posted on our progress for the awards, and ask if you will come by and see what all the excitement is about.

Last year we were nominated in two categories and made the finalist for both. With a little more experience this year we hope we can actually place.  Our artists and customers nominated us confirming that we have treated each with the utmost respect and care.  Many of our artists are local and University of Illinois graduates in many disciplines. We are more than a gallery, we represent a diverse group of artists, over 180 to be close to exact, and feel we have something for everyone.

Please join us in our excitement and help us pass the word.

Thank You,
Mary  Tangora & Larry Steinbauer

new DT store opened a few minutes ago

good morning all,
simply letting you know that courtney ballard has quietly opened her new shop, Jennifer North,  today at 17 E Taylor St, Downtown Champaign.  This is
the site of the former Verde Gallery, located between Cowboy Monkey and Radio Maria on Taylor.   (feel free to pass along this email to help get the word out
about the store.)

you'll probably just have to stop in to see what Jennifer North's selection is like, but go there to look for gifts or to shop for yourself for bags, clothes, candles,
jewelry, plates, glasses, stationary,  lotions, lipgloss, makeup, SHOES...  yeah, it's basically like someone took an urban outfitters, anthropologie & sephora - mixed
'em all together and then filtered them thru courtney.  in short, fun.

i hear they have cupcakes today, too.  better hurry...

Looking for Loft Apt:

1) We would be interested in a studio apartment up to a two bedroom
apartment, depending on the cost.
2) We would prefer renting over buying.
3) We would be looking to move in late July or early August.
4) Hardwood floors, brick walls, the usual loft-type look and feel.

sidewalk sale

hi all:
if you are a downtown champaign retailer interested in being a part of a downtown champaign sidewalk sale to be held the week of ebertfest, please drop me an email.  don fuehling from kuhn's is spearheading this effort and the hub will be supporting with advertising.  it's my understanding that the recent changes in downtown signage regs will now allow sidewalk sales.

see you tonight at the downtown assoc. awards in the great impasta banquet room,
